We do everything we can to avoid suffering, pain, stress, or anything remotely uncomfortable, the problem is that it’s often these things that develop us.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying run out and make your life as hard as possible but maybe you also don’t do everything you can to make it “easy”
It was one of the hardest lessons of life when I realized that development in almost any area is going to be difficult, When I was younger I thought that trying and having faith was enough but the truth was, that ideas are important and faith is going to help but it’s the DOING IT that makes things happen and often the “doing part” is dam hard!
To achieve anything you have to be willing to accept that the path is likely going to be tough!
But hard or difficult isn’t bad, we are so accustomed to comfort now that the vast majority of us never pursue the things we want because the idea alone is hard enough, then those that do try to start to encounter difficulties and give up.
only a very small percentage of individuals actually achieve the things they want in life and I believe that one of the main reasons people succeed is that they change their relationship with pain.
by taking pain, discomfort, and stress and developing a relationship with these things that are rooted in the belief that if we do these difficult things we WILL achieve growth and development, rather than looking at pain and difficulty as bad or failing but treating them as a necessary part of a growth process!
take what’s difficult and make it part of the process, not something to be feared and avoided.
Falling and getting shit wrong is going to happen so accept it and when these things happen, take a step back extract the lesson, and grow forward from the experience.
it’s not going to be easy, but that’s the point, right? you can do it and you WILL succeed even if you don’t then have massive self-respect for putting yourself at the hazard to pursue what you dare to dream of!
